AFTER CARE
Immediate Care (First 24 Hours)
Once your tattoo is complete, it’s crucial to protect the fresh ink. Leave the bandage on for 2-4 hours to prevent bacteria from entering the area. After removing the bandage, gently wash the tattoo with lukewarm water and a mild, fragrance-free soap. Pat it dry with a clean towel—never rub. Avoid rebandaging, and let your skin breathe.
Protecting Your Tattoo (2-4 Weeks)
Your tattoo will begin to scab and peel within the first week. Don’t pick at the scabs or scratch the area, as this can cause ink loss and scarring. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, as UV rays can fade your tattoo. If you need to go outside, cover the tattoo with clothing. Steer clear of swimming, hot tubs, and saunas during this time, as soaking the tattoo can damage the healing skin.
Cleaning and Moisturizing (First Week)
Keep your tattoo clean by washing it twice a day with mild soap and lukewarm water. After each wash, allow it to air dry or gently pat with a clean towel. Apply a thin layer of fragrance-free, alcohol-free moisturizer or a tattoo-specific aftercare lotion to prevent dryness. Avoid over-moisturizing, as it can suffocate the skin and prolong healing.
Long-Term Care (After Healing)
Even after your tattoo has fully healed, taking care of it will keep the colors vibrant and your skin healthy. Always use sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher to protect it from UV damage. Keep your skin moisturized and avoid harsh scrubbing when washing the area. Periodic touch-ups may be needed to maintain the tattoo's detail and brightness over time.
